Dwight was born and raised here in Las Vegas and graduated from Robertson High School, class of 1981.
He attended Luna Community College from 1981 to 1983 and again in 1986 to 1988. He attended Amarillo College from 2013 to 2015 and obtained his degree in Mortuary Science. He worked for the New Mexico Department of Transportation from 1984 to 2009 when he retired. After retiring from the State of New Mexico he went to work for Nelson Funeral Home becoming the Funeral Director. He owned and operated Good Times Mobile DJ Services from 2005 until 2015. Thanks to his mother Irene Torres, Dwight grew up with a passion and an appreciation for all genres of music. He grew up listening to vinyl 45’s, 33’s and 78’s and later to 8-tracks, cassettes and eventually to CD’s. He would listen to New Mexico Spanish music such as Al Hurricane, Freddie Brown, Country Roland, Purple Haze, Gloria Pohl, Eddie Roybal, just to name a few along with old time country such as Eddie Arnold, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline and many others. After Nelson Funeral Home closed in July of 2018, Dwight heard an ad where KNMX was looking for a radio DJ to host the afternoon Spanish Program. He interviewed and was hired on the spot. He has been with KNMX Radio since August 1st, 2018. Dwight says that Music has always been a big part of his life so coming to work at KNMX radio was a great fit for him. He says that doing the afternoon Spanish program has become one of the things he loves doing the most.
Besides working in radio, Dwight currently serves as Probate Judge for San Miguel County.
Dwight has a love for music and is glad he can share that passion with his dedicated listeners and says he considers all his listeners those near and far to be his personal friends. Dwight looks forward to coming in to work every day and doing his show and looks forward to the many phone calls from his listeners. “ I still get a little nervous when behind the mic but feel I have come a long way from when I first started and I can only hope to get better in order to continue to bring great New Mexico Music to all my listeners”.
Music has a way of bringing back many old memories and helps in making new memories. Each song has a story to tell. Those musical memories have a way of taking us back to different times and places in our lives and many times make our heart skip a beat or two. Music is so powerful that it really becomes the dialogue to a persons’ life and it is a pleasure to share the great New Mexico music and the talented artists with the listeners of the great state of New Mexico, but also share it with those in the surrounding states whom we have the pleasure of sneaking in to.

I am a father of three great kids and I’ve been fortunate enough to do something I love for a living, being in this great business we call Radio. When I’m not hanging with family, friends or on-the-air, you’ll probably find me watching a Tigers, Red Wings or Michigan Football game as I am a native of Detroit and love my hometown sports teams. Thank you for making me a part of your day.

I grew up on Memphis radio back in the mid-70’s and throughout the 80’s where Rick Dees got his start and I got hooked. Instead of watching TV in the family room, I was in my room listening to the radio and falling in love with the medium. I still believe in the power of radio and the magic it can bring. While radio has changed, the one constant that will always remain is our being drawn to personalities. Radio reflects lifestyles with music, information, and personality, which I love being a part of.

Matt grew up on a pig farm in Upstate NY. By age eight he was playing DJ on his boom box and performing in plays for his relatives. At age 15 he landed an internship at WSCM in Cobleskill, NY. After two weeks of making coffee, running errands and board operating, Matt became just that, a “bored”operator… so one day he decided to turn on the microphone and start talking. Much to Matt’s surprise, the audience liked what they heard, and he was given his very first radio show. Since then, he’s worked at stations all over the US including stops in California, New York, and Tennessee (Nashville Ya’ll!). Matt’s entertainment background extends beyond radio broadcasting. He has appeared in motion pictures, commercials, print campaigns and on network television. He’s worked on projects featuring Tim McGraw, Nicole Kidman, Val Kilmer, Hayden Panettiere, and more. I’m a native Texan, born and raised in Houston, and pretty much as far back as I can remember I’ve wanted to work in radio. All of my friends and even my family call me a radio nerd, and I wear my title proudly! My favorite artist of all time is The King, George Strait. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him twice, the first time I met him I cried… and I’m not ashamed to admit it! My other favorite artists, in no particular order, include Garth Brooks, Tracy Lawrence, Clint Black and of course, Reba! In my spare time, I enjoy giving back to the community, helping out with various non-profit organizations. I love supporting our First Responders and Military, and if I could I would adopt every animal on the planet!

Shotgun grew up on Long Island, New York, just outside Manhattan which makes him about as country as a bowl of spaghetti. He attributes his love of country music to his father who was a big fan of Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Don Gibson, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Ray Charles. “My dad only played country music on the Zenith Console Stereo in our living room; cranked it up loud too. Drove my mom nuts but I couldn’t get enough of it! I introduced him to Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, George Strait, Reba, Alabama and The Judds and he loved those guys as much as he loved his stuff.” Shotgun’s an automobile enthusiast, Civil War buff and avid sports fan, especially football and has worked in radio on Long Island, New York City, Connecticut, Dallas, Nashville and Cleveland, Ohio.

When I was about 5 years old, I thought the radio was about the coolest thing as a kid. I would often sit in the back seat of my parent’s car and pretend to be the DJ. And that’s how it all began. Fast forward to my teens and I had my first show on the local TV cable channel that aired text messages on screen back in the day. There I was playing big band music. I had no knowledge of that genre but I didn’t care. I was nervous but having a blast! While in college I interned at 3 different stations in Philadelphia and had my first professional job in 1986. I grew up in Gloucester City NJ. I’m the oldest of 5 siblings. I’m an amateur bodybuilder and love everything about training in the gym and attending fitness expos.

Joe grew up in the Twin Cities and no matter where his radio travels take him he always keeps in touch with home by following his favorite teams, the Vikings and Twins. Joe knew in Junior High that he wanted to go into radio and, fortunately, has been able to make a career out of it ever since. When he’s not on the air, Joe enjoys golfing, running, reading, hiking and enjoying our National Parks, playing the drums, and loves just spending time with his family!

This guy LOVES music! His radio career started because he wanted to have a job where he could play music all the time. That narrowed it down pretty quick. He thought it would be a good job till he graduated college. He’s often asked, “what’s your favorite song?” Or, “what’s your favorite music?” The answer is “depends on the day.” Join Steve for lots of great music and some good stories about your favorite songs and artists. And, yeah, that diploma is still on hold.

When she isn’t dancing in the studio with her headphones turned up, Liz is busy tackling mom life. At home, she’s either trying a new recipe (no one will eat) or cleaning Legos off the floor (again). When she’s got time, she hits the thrift stores, binges a Netflix documentary, or gets addicted to the latest free game app her seven year old convinced her to download while deciding not to fold the clothes… because let’s face it, we can always just turn the dryer back on, right?!

Playing your favorite songs has been a pleasure for me since the early 80’s on the Radio or at weddings and events. It’s fun playing a song that brings back that great feeling or memory for you or playing it for the first time and you instantly love it. My wife and I are blessed with 6 children from 5 to 21, 2 cats and a rabbit. Life is chaotic and unpredictable but I love it.

He was a jack-of-all-trades, getting experience in the radio world. Stewart made his mark in the radio world, working for stations such as WGFQ, WHUB, WRKK, WSIX, WKDF and KMXN. I first started in radio at age 14 working Part Time at my hometown station in Fairfeld, Iowa. I knew then I was hooked at being “On the Air.” I’ve worked at stations in Iowa, Illinois, Florida and Dallas, Texas! My wife Heather and I have a 3 year old son named Austin Cole. I never knew how much having a child could change your life and really make you feel like you had a purpose. There’s nothing I enjoy more than spending time with my family which also includes two dogs Buddy and Boomer. I grew up listening to Country Music and am a huge Country Fan especially of artists from the 80’s and 90’s! When I’m not working or spending time with my family I like to play guitar. I think a lot of people in radio are actually frustrated musicians – I’m one of them. I love to go to concerts and watch sports on TV. My son is turning into a NASCAR fan and loves to watch the cars go “vroom, vroom” around the track.

Taylor Read was born in Las Vegas, NM and raised in the area on his family’s ranch and the O’Connor Ranch east of town. Taylor graduated from Grady Municipal Schools, a town in eastern New Mexico where his mother was from. After that Taylor went to New Mexico Highlands University studied History and Anthropology. While in college he worked for the family ranch and the O’Connor Ranch.
His first radio show experience was when he got asked to be a co-host from his friend who had a rock show at KEDP 91.1 FM at Highlands. Around 1999 Taylor transferred to West Texas A&M University and found a new calling for himself in the field of Broadcasting. There he received his BS in Mass Communications/Broadcasting and worked in Amarillo, TX as a DJ at KGNC News Talk 710 AM.
Little time passed before Taylor was homesick for New Mexico and returned home in 2005 to the cowboy life at the ranch. Soon he heard of a new country station was starting that was looking for on-air talent. Soon Taylor was on the air, first on KNMX AM with a Saturday morning country show, and then sitting in the captain’s chair on the morning show called the “The Morning Bull” on 92.7 the Bull in 2009. It was a perfect place for Taylor and continued his on-air name as “T-Bone”, a handle that he has used since his college days on KWTS 91.1 FM.
“T-Bone” has been raised on country music and had always wanted to DJ country music since he was a boy. The dream has come true. Taylor also is a Ranch Manager for a ranch nearby in the mountains. “T-Bone” Taylor Read’s show, “The Morning Bull”, is a country show like none other. It highlights the classics, some of the new country (as long as it’s real country) and some artists that this area is not familiar with, like Texas and Red Dirt country.
T- Bone’s formula for his show is: “Country music you never heard before, Country music you haven’t heard in a long time and Country music that you know by heart”. Also there is Paul Ware who provides the latest news and interesting stories in addition there is hardly a show that doesn’t have him cutting up with T-Bone. There is always a chance to win something on “The Morning Bull” as well. You can catch the show Monday through Friday 7am to 10am.
