Our Team
Dwight Torres
La Voz Del Norte, DJ
Dwight was born and raised here in Las Vegas and graduated from Robertson High School, class of 1981. He attended Luna Community College from 1981 to 1983 and again in 1986 to 1988. He attended Amarillo College from 2013 to 2015 and obtained his degree in Mortuary Science. He worked for the New Mexico Department of Transportation from 1984 to 2009 when he retired. After retiring from the State of New Mexico he went to work for Nelson Funeral Home becoming the Funeral Director. He owned and operated Good Times Mobile DJ Services from 2005 until 2015. Thanks to his mother Irene Torres, Dwight grew up with a passion and an appreciation for all genres of music. He grew up listening to vinyl 45’s, 33’s and 78’s and later to 8-tracks, cassettes and eventually to CD’s. He would listen to New Mexico Spanish music such as Al Hurricane, Freddie Brown, Country Roland, Purple Haze, Gloria Pohl, Eddie Roybal, just to name a few along with old time country such as Eddie Arnold, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline and many others. After Nelson Funeral Home closed in July of 2018, Dwight heard an ad where KNMX was looking for a radio DJ to host the afternoon Spanish Program. He interviewed and was hired on the spot. He has been with KNMX Radio since August 1st, 2018. Dwight says that Music has always been a big part of his life so coming to work at KNMX radio was a great fit for him. He says that doing the afternoon Spanish program has become one of the things he loves doing the most. Besides working in radio, Dwight currently serves as Probate Judge for San Miguel County. Dwight has a love for music and is glad he can share that passion with his dedicated listeners and says he considers all his listeners those near and far to be his personal friends. Dwight looks forward to coming in to work every day and doing his show and looks forward to the many phone calls from his listeners. “ I still get a little nervous when behind the mic but feel I have come a long way from when I first started and I can only hope to get better in order to continue to bring great New Mexico Music to all my listeners”. Music has a way of bringing back many old memories and helps in making new memories. Each song has a story to tell. Those musical memories have a way of taking us back to different times and places in our lives and many times make our heart skip a beat or two. Music is so powerful that it really becomes the dialogue to a persons’ life and it is a pleasure to share the great New Mexico music and the talented artists with the listeners of the great state of New Mexico, but also share it with those in the surrounding states whom we have the pleasure of sneaking in to.

T-Bone Taylor Read
DJ
Taylor Read was born in Las Vegas, NM and raised in the area on his family’s ranch and the O’Connor Ranch east of town. Taylor graduated from Grady Municipal Schools, a town in eastern New Mexico where his mother was from. After that Taylor went to New Mexico Highlands University studied History and Anthropology. While in college he worked for the family ranch and the O’Connor Ranch.
His first radio show experience was when he got asked to be a co-host from his friend who had a rock show at KEDP 91.1 FM at Highlands. Around 1999 Taylor transferred to West Texas A&M University and found a new calling for himself in the field of Broadcasting. There he received his BS in Mass Communications/Broadcasting and worked in Amarillo, TX as a DJ at KGNC News Talk 710 AM.
Little time passed before Taylor was homesick for New Mexico and returned home in 2005 to the cowboy life at the ranch. Soon he heard of a new country station was starting that was looking for on-air talent. Soon Taylor was on the air, first on KNMX AM with a Saturday morning country show, and then sitting in the captain’s chair on the morning show called the “The Morning Bull” on 92.7 the Bull in 2009. It was a perfect place for Taylor and continued his on-air name as “T-Bone”, a handle that he has used since his college days on KWTS 91.1 FM.
“T-Bone” has been raised on country music and had always wanted to DJ country music since he was a boy. The dream has come true. Taylor also is a Ranch Manager for a ranch nearby in the mountains. “T-Bone” Taylor Read’s show, “The Morning Bull”, is a country show like none other. It highlights the classics, some of the new country (as long as it’s real country) and some artists that this area is not familiar with, like Texas and Red Dirt country.
T- Bone’s formula for his show is: “Country music you never heard before, Country music you haven’t heard in a long time and Country music that you know by heart”.

Phillip was born in Las Vegas and never left. He graduated from Robertson High School and continued his education at New Mexico Highlands University where he recieved an AS in Electronics and a BS in Technology. His first radio job was at KEDP in 1982 as a DJ. In 1985, Phil becme the first Student Program Director until 1988. While at the University, he started his own DJ business and travelled throughout the state. Phil was also the DJ at two clubs in Las Vegas. He was the DJ at La Casita from 1988 to 2003 and then left to DJ at Dick’s Liquors when Dick’s had a new dance club from 2003 to 2013. Gill Perea-Martinez
Office Manager
Hello! My name is Gill (pronounced Jill) I am new to the SDC Broadcasting group. I am born and raised here in Las Vegas, NM. I went to school at East Las Vegas City Schools. Graduated in the top 25 of my class in 1993 from Robertson. I continued my education and went on to Luna Community College, previously known as Luna Vocational Technical Institute for Culinary Arts.
Eventually, I went to work at LVCS , and worked as a Special Ed educational assistant , then I applied as the school site secretary for several years, and after I had my second child, I took an administrative position, and worked at their Central Office, for a number of years in different capacities, learning as much as I could.
I left the school district to take care of my husband who had a major health event that changed our future. I became a long term caregiver and fulltime mom again.
During the pandemic, I was working part time for the Food Depot out of Santa Fe. During that time, I over saw 13 agencies, in 3 counties and served as an Outreach Coordinator. In that position I was assisting them with food distributions, securing equipment, training volunteers, and meeting local, state and federal compliance regulations. I was fortunate to meet many wonderful and dedicated people who run these programs. It truly is rewarding and re-instills hope in humanity. It was such an important piece during the Covid-19 pandemic.
After leaving that position, I stayed home a few more years sticking to my caregiving, and eventually was granted an opportunity for this position. I am grateful for all of my colleagues here, and look forward to continuing my career here serving our beautiful community.
